How I create an Aroma-therapeutic blend. My thought process, and creative flow along with the art and craft behind bringing aroma and therapeutic actions to coalesce.
First I sit with my client's intake and the notes which I have acquired from having had an intake discussion with them. As our conversation has progressed either via phone or digital device I have taken notes which in tern will help me decide which type of products would best suit their therapeutic needs. Even though, as a client they may have many concerns it is very common to see that these are linked with a single cause. Thus, treating the root is a wise conclusion.
This is not the conclusion in all cases, however, where the root is not something that is with in treatable grasp. However, in many cases, and especially in this world of high-stress and fast paced lives, it is very common that the cause of illness is stress. As it is said in Ayurvedic Medicine, and strongly believed by myself, stress can be cause of much illness. Both mentally and physically we are so impacted by the stressors on our bodies and the demands on our minds.
As I sit with my notes I can usually see this connection to the root. I will write down that product which can support, for example, stress or anxiety....in order to facilitate better sleep and in tern bring about more energy.
I will blend two products for my client. Each one will have a different action or several different supporting actions. In rare cases I will make three if I feel it is necessary.
Then I sit with my note book. I have chosen the two best suited products. I then look at the client's aroma-profile. This is the oils that they prefer vs. the oils they want to avoid. I take into account allergies and contraindications (oils not to be used for certain age ranges and with certain conditions of the body). I take a mental note of any medications they are on.
This first part is very non-creative but therapeutically necessary due to the actions of the essential oils, plant chemistry which will be action within our bodies. I will, based on these cautions, keep the oils in the mix that fit the actions that the client needs therapeutically in the blend, and also the ones that fit their aroma profile. Then I will use my knowledge of aromas to create a harmonious blend. I write down the oils and also the base/ carrier products that will be used.

I always let a blend sit overnight and smell it again the next day. The Essential oils intermingle and this gives me time to break from the sniffing for a bit. If it is still perfect in the morning then it is DONE.
I hope that you have enjoyed this blending journey with me. If you work with me as my client this is an approximation to how your custom blend will be created especially for you. The recipe is written for custom for you and the moments which I take to build your Aroma-Therapeutic blend are very special to me because all the concerns you express to me are taken into consideration very carefully. Time and long thought are put into each and every blend. Good energy and mindfulness is practiced during every second during my blending sessions.
Be well and I hope to be blending for you soon.
